Tree 4 Trust: A Sustainable Step with Strong Roots

Instead of Excel and meetings, yesterday was all about forest air, fresh perspectives and real work, as part of our new initiative: Tree 4 Trust.

Together with our team and Andreas, a forester from the Korporation Zug, we kicked off Tree 4 Trust, our sustainability project rooted in the region and close to our hearts.

Because at 4E Capital, we believe: If you think long term, you should act long term.

What is Tree 4 Trust?

Tree 4 Trust is more than a symbol. It’s our contribution to a more responsible approach to our environment, locally rooted, sustainably designed.

This year, we planted a tree for each of our existing clients. And from now on, every new partnership will mean another tree. Year after year. Tree by tree. Because a successful client relationship shouldn’t just grow, it should leave a mark.

It’s also important to us to support our regional forestry. Because sustainable action begins on your doorstep and ideally never ends. We want to give back: to our region, our clients, and 4 Generations To Come

A Change in Perspective and in Footwear

After a light breakfast at the office, coffee, croissants and good energy, we made our way to the Zugerberg mountain railway, where Andreas was already waiting for us.

Once we arrived at the top, we set off on a long walk through the colourful autumn forest. Andreas guided us not only along forest paths but also through topics like biodiversity, reforestation, soil protection and climate resilience, all surprisingly relevant to what we do in finance.

Some of us even spotted wild animals along the way, nature’s version of a private screening.

Was Wald und What Forests and Finance Have in Common

  • Diversification protects against risk, in portfolios, as in root systems.

  • Long-term thinking pays off, sustainability never happens overnight.

  • Care and responsibility make the difference, for both young saplings and

    long-standing client relationships.

Teamwork Among Trees

The moment we had all been waiting for came after our final descent: our designated planting area. Let’s just say, the terrain had ambitions of its own. Steep?

Challenging? Absolutely. Unmanageable? Not quite, just a bit… off-balance.

We split into two groups: one further up the slope, the other further down.

Now, if you're wondering why you only see half the team working in the photos...

Well, let’s just say our marketing manager took one look down the hill and declared: “This view’s great, I think I’ll stay right here.”And so, the brave souls in the lower half of the slope are left unphotographed or, as we like to call it: legendary, but undocumented.

Yes, there were a few slips. The forest floor was soft, the incline ambitious might be a bit of an overstatement for some of us. But with good humour, mutual support and the occasional improvised rescue grip, every tree found its place and so did we.

With clear instructions from Andreas and his team, we learned the essentials of proper planting: How deep to dig, How to anchor a tree securely, How to protect young saplings from wildlife and ourselves from sliding down the slope in the process.

A Small Sign, A Big Start

At the end of our work, we marked our newly planted area with a small sign a symbol for the beginning of something that will grow over time.

Then we headed back to the office, just in time for lunch. A little tired, a little muddy, but with a much clearer idea of what responsibility can mean.

For Our Clients

The trees we planted? They stand for you. For your trust, your partnership, your investment. And for every new client who joins us in the future, another tree will follow, as a symbol of sustainable growth. Not just in portfolios, but in the ground we share.

A Heartfelt Thank You

To all of our clients who made this project possible, to every participant who rolled up their sleeves and to Andreas and the team at Korporation Zug, who guided us through this special day with expertise, kindness, and patience.
